The School of Social Sciences (ECS) is one of the prestigious Organic Units of the University of Évora, dedicated to teaching, research, and outreach in various social science fields. The ECS plays a fundamental role in educating conscious professionals and citizens, equipping them with crucial knowledge and skills for the challenges of contemporary society.

Its educational offering is extensive and covers different levels of study:

• Bachelor's Degrees: Includes courses such as Education Sciences, Economics, Primary Education, Philosophy and Contemporary Culture, Management, History and Archaeology, Languages and Literatures, Cultural Heritage, Psychology, International Relations, Sociology, and Tourism, preparing students for diverse careers and advanced studies.


• Master's Degrees: Offers specializations in areas like Archaeology, Education Sciences (with focuses on Administration, Regulation and Educational Policies, and Educational Supervision and Assessment), Language Sciences, Economics, Management (including Quality Management and Agro-Food Marketing, Management and Valorisation of Historical and Cultural Heritage), History, Literature, Public Policies and Projects, Psychology, International Relations and European Studies, Sociology, and Tourism. Some of these Master's degrees have international components, such as programs in São Tomé and Príncipe.


• Postgraduate Degrees and Micro-credentials: ECS is committed to continuous and specialized training with postgraduate degrees in areas such as Health Unit Administration, Information Science, and Education Inspection, and micro-credentials that address innovative pedagogical themes, such as assessment in higher education and student mentoring.

ECS's activity is driven by a strong component of research and active community participation. Recent news and events demonstrate this dynamism, with faculty participating in international conferences on artificial intelligence applied to archaeology, contributing to deepening knowledge about the profile of visitors in Alentejo, and raising awareness about the destruction of archaeological heritage. The school also promotes student participation through year representatives and representation in bodies such as the Senate and the Pedagogical Council, reinforcing student voice in academic life.

Additionally, ECS houses the Centre for Languages of the School of Social Sciences (CLECS), a valuable resource that contributes to language certification and the promotion of Portuguese as a Foreign Language, enriching the profile of its students and the community at large.
